“ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE”

19 August 2022

Kia Ora, Kia Orana, Malo e lelei, Talofa, Fakalofa lahi atu, Greetings

We are having a fantastic term here at BMPS.

What’s Happening at BMPS?

Our Kiwi team has an amazing focus called ‘Commotion in the Ocean.’ Our tamariki are learning about the world that exists within the sea and how we can protect our sea world.  Later this term the Kiwi team are going to Kelly Tarlton’s where they will learn more about and meet some of the animals from the sea.

Our Tui team are enjoying their learning about dinosaurs and fossils and will soon be going to Auckland Museum to meet ‘Peter’ one of the rarest and most complete Tyrannosaurus Rex skeletons in the world.

Our Kahu team has a cultural focus this term.  All of our tamariki are part of a group.  We are looking forward to celebrating this learning at our culture festival at the end of the term.

This week we had two teams who took part in the Otara inter-school football tournament.  This was a festival day and not a competition. Our teams had trained hard and played well at the tournament.  I believe that if there was a prize, the teams would have received it for their sportsmanship-they were amazing. I would like to thank Michelle Peters and Anthony Curry for their great coaching.

You will see more of what has been happening at BMPS at the bottom of this panui.

Wet Weather and Road Safety

Auckland has definitely had its fair share of wet weather this winter.  It is vital that our tamariki (if they are well) still come to school on a wet day and that they have a jacket to wear.  Most of our tamariki received a KidsCan jacket.  Please help your child by ensuring that they are wearing their jacket/have their jacket in their bag.

Please slow down if you are driving near our school and make sure that you park legally.  It is a safety risk when parents park across driveways and on the yellow lines.

Also concerning is the amount of tamariki arriving and leaving in cars with no seatbelt/safety belt.  Please, please keep your family safe by ensuring that everyone ‘makes it click.’

Cybersafety

Next week we will be sending home our revised cybersafety school/home/tamariki agreement.  We ask that you spend some time with your child/children discussing this agreement, before signing and returning the agreement to school.  Please note that each child needs to have a signed agreement.

KiwiSchools App

Last term BMPS launched our new app, which is a one-stop shop for accessing newsletters, receiving emergency alerts from school and providing an easy way for you to inform the school if your child/children are going to be absent.  Please contact our office if you need assistance to download the app.
