“ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE”

16 November 2021

Kia Ora, Kia Orana, Malo e Lelei, Talofa Lava, Fakalofa Lahi Atu, Greetings

For those tamariki who are starting back to school tomorrow-we can’t wait to see you!  It will be a great time to connect with friends and to do fun activities with your class.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

The gates will open at 8:30am.

At the end of the day the gates will open at 2:40pm for Tui/Kahu tamariki and 2:45pm for Kiwi tamariki.

  • Please make sure that your children know which gate to meet you.
  • Please make sure that you wear a mask.
  • Please make sure that you are 2 metres apart.

All year 4-6 must wear a mask at school or have an exemption. This is a mandatory requirement. Please provide your child with at least two masks and two bags.

Teachers will make sure that there is learning around how to wear masks properly and will also ensure that the class goes outside for mask breaks.

All tamariki need:

  • A bottle of water
  • Morning tea/healthy snacks
  • A lunch box to take home leftover lunch
  • BMPS sun hat
  • Optional-a ball to play with (gear cannot be shared)

What do I do if my child is unwell and is not able to go to school?

Our usual attendance procedures apply. Please leave a message for the Attendance Officer on 092748271 or email office@bmps.school.nz. Please state your child’s name, class and the reason they are away so that we can code the absence appropriately in our student management system.

As per our normal process, we will follow up on unexplained absences.

What happens if my child becomes unwell at school?

All children who are unwell will be taken to the sickbay, you will be notified to pick them up. If the symptoms relate to covid, siblings will also be sent home.

For tamariki with covid symptoms-they will need to show the school a negative covid result before being allowed to return to school.

Please note that if your child goes to the sickbay because they are unwell, they will be given a mask to wear.

Tamariki being picked up early

Please only do this in an emergency or if your child has an appointment.

For tamariki not returning:

You can pick up a new learning pack for your child from the Edward Avenue entrance on Thursday 18 November between 10-1pm (we will also put packs in the pantry for families who can’t make this time).

This will be contactless. You must:

  • Wear a mask.
  • Use the covid tracer app to sign in.

Our teachers will be teaching their classes and will not be active in their Google Classroom. However, teachers will put activities online for their class.

On Friday 19 November each team will have a zoom assembly.  A link will be sent to you/to your child’s school email address, so that your child can join the assembly from home.

Teachers will be in touch with you directly about zoom sessions which will happen each week for children working at home.

A special reminder for all tamariki who took home a device – if you are returning to school, please bring it back.

If you are staying home, the device must be returned by Friday 10 December.

Whānau/Teacher Catch-up

On Thursday 25 November you have the opportunity to catch up with your child’s teacher.  We will not be sharing data, as we have not assessed children, but we are available if you would like to ask questions or have any queries.

You will need to know the name of your child’s teacher.

Click on the link below if you would like to make an appointment.
