Dear Parents and Caregivers

We hope that you have all managed to have a well deserved break.

You will have seen and heard yesterday that the Government has decided that schools will for the most part remain closed for the beginning of term 4.  Like you, we were hopeful that we could be at BMPS with our tamariki once again.  However, the health of our children and staff is paramount.

Parents and caregivers are asked that where possible, tamariki continue to learn from home.  However, BMPS will open for families whose parents or carers need to go to work and there is no alternative person who can supervise them. If you have someone who can care for your tamariki then children should be learning from home.

Please note children at school during Alert Level 3 will be supervised and not taught.  They will continue with their online learning or their learning pack.  The teachers at school will be online teaching their own class.

If you require your tamariki to be at school next week, please contact me on the email address below with:

  • names of the tamariki
  • their class
  • your contact number

This information must be emailed to fee@bmps.school.nz by 3pm, Thursday 14 October.

The Beginning of Term 4

From Monday 18 October, children who are able to, will resume online learning. If your child has a device, please check in and support them to get online.  Our teachers have many fun learning tasks planned.  It also allows children to connect with their classmates.

Tamariki who do not have a device will continue to learn using a learning pack.

New Learning Packs

On Monday 18 October between 11-1pm we will be distributing a new learning pack.  This will be a contactless pick up from the Edward Avenue entrance.  You will need:

  • One person per family to pick up learning packs
  • This person must be wearing a mask
  • This person needs to know the area of the school that their tamariki are in: Kiwi/Tui/Kahu
  • This person MUST use the COVID tracer app

Other Learning Resources

Your child may also have BMPS and Ministry of Education packs from previous lockdowns. These are full of great learning ideas.

We understand that this extended lockdown may be stressful. Here are a few reminders from your BMPS whānau:

  • the health of your family comes first
  • please do not expect your child to do school work like a normal school day-encourage but do not force your child to work
  • email myself, Kim or your child’s class teacher if you have questions or need support
  • please remember that our teachers are at home with their families too

If you require food or welfare support, please contact:

Ngā mihi nui for all of your support. A special thank you to our essential workers who are on the front line. Please look after each other and keep each other safe.
