Kia Ora, Kia Orana, Malo e lelei, Talofa lava, Fakalofa lahi atu, Bula Vinaka, Greetings

Dear Parents and Caregivers

We hope that learning from home has been going well for everyone in your household bubble. We know this lockdown has been a challenging time for many and we thank you for your on-going support.

The Government announced that in principle, Auckland will move to Alert Level 3 on Wednesday 22 September. The Prime Minister will announce the Government’s final decision on Monday 20 September.

The Government says that at Alert Level 3, most children should continue to learn from home wherever possible. BMPS will open for tamariki whose parents or caregivers need to go to work and there is no alternative person who can supervise their children.

The key message for you is that if you can, you should keep your child at home. You should only physically send your child to school if you need to. If your child has a health condition that means they are at a greater risk of a severe illness, you must keep them at home. If your child is sick, they must remain at home.

In order to ensure the safety of those children and our staff who do come to school, we will be operating under strict health and safety measures.

If your child needs to be at school when we move to Alert Level 3, they will:

  • Come to school at 8:45am and will finish at 2:30pm.
  • Be in a supervised class of 10 students or less with social distancing.
  • Continue with online learning/learning packs- they will be doing the same work as students who are learning at home.
  • No teaching will be done by the supervising teacher.
  • Be dressed in mufti – please dress warmly as classroom doors and windows will be open.
  • Need to stay home if they are unwell at any stage.
  • Need to bring enough food and drink for the day.
  • Stay within segregated areas during break times.

Teachers have been in touch with you to find out your intention for your tamariki at Alert Level 3.

Thank you parents and caregivers who have contacted their child’s class teacher to inform them of whether or not your tamariki will return to school at Alert Level 3. If you have not, please do this as soon as possible as we will only have enough supervision for tamariki who are registered.

We will be in touch again soon with more information.  As you have been doing, please continue to connect with myself, Kim or your child’s teachers with any questions you may have.

Thank you for your support.

Ngā mihi
